Mike Nielsen Nielsen

After graduating from MHS, I spent two years at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln studying pre-med. While there, I met my wife at a computer dance (Does anyone else remember these?) I then went to Davenport, IA where I attended Palmer College of Chiropractic and graduated in 1973. I started practice in McCook in 1974 and my brother, Gary, joined me a year later. He died in Dec. 2008 and I continue to practice alone. In 1990 I helped start a local Christian radio station. I was associated with it for nearly 20 years and servied a total of 6 1/2 years as a volunteer "interim" manager. I had to quit when my brother was dying from cancer and now don't have the energy to both run a solo practice and contribute time to the station. Linda and I are Red Cross Volunteers and on rare occasion respond to disasters such as fires when victims are in need of a place to stay, clothing, etc. Retirement. What's that? I'm still in full time practice, but thinking of reducing my hours.

After track practice one day, several of us went into the large theater and sat down to watch rehearsals of Showboat. Mr. Gansebaum approaced us and asked us if we would like to be in it. We were "volunteered" to be Indians in one scene and waltz dancers in another. It was fun and I thank him for that opportunity.
