William E. 'Bill' Fitzpatrick


MCCOOL JUNCTION, Neb. -- William E. "Bill" Fitzpatrick, age 84, of McCool Junction passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at Central City, Nebraska, following a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. 

He was born in rural York, Nebraska, to Richard and Elizabeth "Betty" (Russell) Fitzpatrick. Bill was a 1949 graduate of McCook High School. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln from 1963-1966 and later graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1968. 

He married Mary Anne Bors on Nov. 25, 1967, at McCool Junction. Bill was a lineman for several different public power districts. When he retired in 1992, he was the senior engineering technician with Nebraska Public Power District. 

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCool, a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Rotary club in Ogallala, Nebraska. He enjoyed target shooting and designing his two houses.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Anne of McCool Junction; two sons, Joseph Fitzpatrick and David Fitzpatrick of Lincoln, Nebraska; three daughters, Beth Fitzpatrick of Spring, Texas, Jean Krewson and fiancé, Eric Main of Slater, Iowa, and Lora (Justin) Splain of Tampa, Florida; and two grandchildren, Talia and Darien Krewson of Slater Iowa.

Bill is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Monzon of McCook, Neberaska; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Stewart of McCool Junction and Marion Fitzpatrick of Rogers, Arkansas; brother-in-law James Bors of Belgium Wisconsin; seven nephews; and one niece.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, John, and brother-in-law, Harold Stewart.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCool Junction. Bill will be cremated following the funeral and inurnment will be in the Fairmont Catholic Cemetery, Fairmont, Nebraska. A Rosary will be said Saturday at 10 am, just prior to Mass. Visitation will be from 1-9 am Thursday and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or St. Joseph Catholic School in York.
