BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Donald Vincent Felling passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and love on Aug. 18, 2016, at the age of 88.

On July 22, 1928, Don was born and raised in McCook, Neb. He was the second son of Ralph 'Skip' and Elizabeth Felling. His parents preceded him in death as did his brother, Ralph Jr.

In 1932, Don (age 4), was there with his dad, Skip, to help take an old cornfield and transform it into a baseball field. Eight-four years later, Felling Field is still a ball field where the kids dream big and swing for the fence!

In 1952, he received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering at Colorado State University. On Oct. 3, 1954, he married Maxine Torrance of Colfax, Wash.

Don was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He spent 32 years working as a Boeing engineer before retiring. During his retirement he enjoyed senior softball, movies and family time.

He was a member of the Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of 62 years; children, Donna Muller (Steve), Keith Felling (Colleen), Lynn Steinberg (Willie), Mary Keigley (Tim), and Britta Kirby (Doug), and grandchildren, Nicholas, Schuyler, Autumn, Clarissa, David, Britta, Kaya and Max; his nephews and nieces, Carl, Janie, Bobby, Mike, Terrie and Cindy; as well as three sister-in-laws, Mary Jane (Bill), Britta Jo (Ken) and Ann (Bruce) and their families. He brought great joy to those around him and he will be greatly missed.

A private family service was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bellevue. His final resting place is Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Wash.
