Disc Golf – A super “Disc Golf Course” is just East of the city swimming pool. Bring your disc and have a great time with some friends.
Walking Trails – The concrete trail is a little over one mile long. It follows along Kelly Creek behind the old Elks Club from East H through lower Kelly park up Bolles Canyon to East M. Parking is recommended at the Republican River Valley Event Center, the lower Kelly Park Shelter house or Weiland Field. The trailhead can be accessed from any of these locations.. A full body workout can be obtained by stopping along the trail and using the 12 exercise stations. Find some friends and go for a walk!
Walk the MHS Track behind the high school is always open for walkers. Find some friends, walk and talk, talk, talk!
Weiland Football Field (East M Street) will be open on Saturday. Take your little guy out there to toss the ball around, etc. Sit in the stands and “remember when”.

Copies of this book can be found at the junior high during registration and the High Plains Museum. MNB Hot Summer Night’s Concert McCook National Bank is sponsoring a concert for our festivities as part of their Hot Summer Nights concert series. They are featuring the band “On The Fritz” in Norris Park on Friday, July 2nd from 7-9:00 p.m. Piloting the band from behind the drum set is Greg Premer ’93. Bring your own lawn chairs or blankets; it will be a wonderful evening for great music and visiting with friends. The kids can play on the new playground equipment and you can slow down and relax! Alumni Authors Adventure Sharing our lives through the written word is something we want to give to all our friends and alumni. The Alumni Author Adventure will be an opportunity for the community and alumni to meet alumni authors and see their work. Meet us at the nostalgic Carnegie City Library, which is now attached to the High Plains Museum. Don’t miss a chance to walk though this building and meet our Bison authors. Bison U.S.P.S. Stamp Cancellation Party If you or someone you know collect stamps or if you would like a special memento from the Bison 2010 Celebration – this is it! The Bison 2010 logo, created by Sara Berry ’97, is being set into a special postal cancellation stamp dated July 3, 2010. McCook’s Postmaster will be present Sat., July 3rd from 9 a.m.- noon at the junior high so your mail, complete with the proper postage, can be cancelled with this special “Bison 2010” stamp. You may purchase an envelope if you need one. This is a unique opportunity to enclose a memento or to write a story or memory which can be mailed to your home or to someone special. Van Driving Tours This delightful and informative tour that will bring back many memories of your time in McCook. It will also leave you with a new knowledge and admiration for our home town. Walk Through the Schools The junior high, senior high and McCook Community College buildings will be open for you to reminisce through the halls at your convenience during registration hours. For MCC meet at McMillian Hall, 1205 East 3rd. The elementary school building (old North Ward) is our newest building addition. This building will be open from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. only on Saturday. Wall of Fame Viewing & Reception Come see our own “Wall of Fame” Saturday at 2:00–3:00 p.m. at the high school. It is located near the north-east doors by the auditorium. You will be amazed at what has been accomplished by our alumni. We have only scratched the surface. You’ll be able to glance though a book with more information about each recipient and another book that contains many other nominations for the Wall of Fame. Alumni Recognition & Salute to America & our Military & Veterans This Sunday afternoon patriotic program will begin by honoring our older alumni, and other special guests, followed by a patriotic program honoring our country, our military, and our veterans. Fireworks The grand finale will be at dusk when the McCook Optimist Club fires off a beautiful display of fireworks to celebrate our Freedom! Fox Theatre Saturday afternoon the “Fox” will hold an open house for you to walk though, sit in a favorite seat or remember the view from the balcony. You can visit with committee members who are involved with preservation and restoration work. It will also be a time for alumni who have worked at the Fox Theater, Temple Theater, or the Bison Drive-In Theater to gather and reminisce with past co-workers. McCook Educational Foundation Auction The McCook Educational Foundation will hold an auction at the reunion during the barbecue at the Fairgrounds Community Building to help raise money for school equipment. Items to be auctioned will include an engraved guitar from the Country Stampede, signed by Dierks Bentley and Blake Shelton donated by Wayne Rouse ’71. Living History We know you have stories to tell! So preserve your memories of a way of life, memorable people or teachers, or fun things that happened to you or others while growing up in McCook. The end result will be a CD full of stories for personal listening. Record your memories at the McCook Public Library before, during or after the reunion. Recordings will be donated to the library. Steve will be at the library from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, & Saturday, July 1-3, and by appointment if necessary. You may have a copy of your recording free of charge or purchase a CD of stories for $5 + shipping & tax. This is a joint project of the McCook Library and the Class of ’65. Nelson Family Sculpture Dedication Please join the McCook Community Foundation Fund, Heritage Square Fund, and the City of McCook as we proudly celebrate America, the family, our heritage, and the Boy Scouts of America with the dedication of the Nelson Family Sculpture. The dedication of a bronze sculpture honoring Sen. Ben Nelson will be in front of Nelson’s Boyhood Home at 608 Norris Avenue. Martha Pettigrew of Kearney created the life-sized sculpture, called "On My Honor," depicting Sen.
